Donald Trump puts ‘Dreamers’ on the back burner and focuses on ‘American dreamers’ in State of the Union Address

On Tuesday, during President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union Address, he pledged to give citizenship to 1.8 million illegal immigrants, also known as ‘Dreamers’.

However, Trump’s real immigration stance came out when he said “Americans are dreamers too”.

For his opener he said “For decades, open borders have allowed drugs and gangs to pour into our most vulnerable communities,” he says. “They have allowed millions of low-wage workers to compete for jobs and wages against the poorest Americans. Most tragically, they have caused the loss of many innocent lives.”

Then he shamelessly said “Americans are dreamers too”.

“My duty, and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber, is to defend Americans — to protect their safety, their families, their communities, and their right to the American Dream. Because Americans are dreamers too.”¬†– DONALD TRUMP, POTUS

As the Republican side is giving him a standing ovation, the democrats are silently protesting in disbelief.

Subsequently after he never mentioned them again and instead right into his immigration reform. His speech for them was short lived, and clearly non existent.
